I don't know about those but I do know about "$1000" dollar dirt bikes. I've bought a few and it's the same with them all.
Every single one that I've bought wound up costing me another $1000 to bring up to snuff. Bent wheels, wheel bearings gone, seal leaks on the motor, new reeds, new piston/rings, new fork seals, head stock bearings, tires, tubes, handlebars with the right bend, bark busters, air filters, respring/ rebuild suspension, and the list goes on... I always say. "ohhh I'll just plonk around on it" and then it will quickly show it's weaknesses.
Nod to unicycle, the marquee wasn't that big at the time so aftermarket is non existent and hard parts will be scarce.
It was an excuse to ride into town on a pretty evening. Pretty rough.Fork seals, rear shock leaks, flat front tire, sprox & chain. Clutch & shifting were nice. If it was coming on winter I'd maybe have offered him $500 but I dont need a project now
